Fed health plans to reward docs for using EHRs

A high-level Health and Human Services Department advisory group will recommend that federal contracts with health plans and insurers include provisions to reward physicians for good performance, including the use of certified e-health records.

The American Health Information Community endorsed in principle the recommendation on pay for performance from its Electronic Health Records Workgroup. It sent the recommendation back to the workgroup for refinement of the wording. AHIC is expected to approve the recommendation at its June 12 meeting.
