Science Applications International Corp. has won a $38 million task order to support a Defense Department program that manages medical information for U.S. military forces deployed overseas.

Under the task order, SAIC will manage, control and track all developer activities necessary for integration. The award has one base year and three one-year options.

As part of the Military Health System, the Theater Medical Information Program-Joint (TMIP-J) provides medical-information management technology to support the medical business practice in a deployed environment. The program supports complete clinical-care documentation, patient movement visibility, health surveillance, and medical supply and equipment tracking.

TMIP-J is in use by Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force personnel in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan.

The task order was awarded under the Defense Medical Information Systems/Systems Integration, Design Development, Operations and Maintenance Services contract.

SAIC of San Diego ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology’s 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
