MCLEAN, Va. –  Booz Allen Hamilton has been awarded a five-year, $2.5 million task order award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to provide privacy and compliance services. The win was awarded as part of the NITAAC CIO-SP2i Government-Wide Acquisition Contract.

Under the contract, Booz Allen will support the NIH in meeting government privacy and compliance statutes, including Privacy Act, E-Government, Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and Agency Privacy Management compliance-driven reporting requirements.

“People must feel comfortable in providing researchers access to personal health information, knowing that their privacy will be ensured – it’s critical for the NIH to accomplish its mission,” said Booz Allen Senior Vice President Andrea Inserra. “Booz Allen looks forward to assisting the NIH to ensure it maintains the public’s trust.”

Since 2006, Booz Allen has supported the NIH Office of the Senior Official for Privacy (OSOP) to ensure that the 45,000 employees and contractors at NIH comply with federal and HHS requirements and protect personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) when carrying out the NIH research missions. This obligation requires persistent oversight and evaluation, awareness and outreach, and a comprehensive understanding of the business and technical privacy controls that, when properly executed, foster an enterprise-wide culture of privacy awareness across the agency’s 27 Institutes and Centers.

Booz Allen’s insights on today’s most pressing health care challenges are drawn from decades of collaboration with government health agencies on their technology challenges. Booz Allen is committed to the future of health and medicine, and finding solutions to help clients meet the many challenges ahead, including privacy concerns.
