Syracuse, NY, September 18, 2012 – Syracuse, NY, September 18, 2012 – Systems Made Simple, Inc. (SMS), a provider of IT systems and services to support critical architecture, data, and application challenges in the healthcare industry, today announces its contract award for the Veterans Service Network (VETSNET) Program and Benefits Gateway System (BGS) development project. This contract expands on the work SMS performs as a prime contractor on the VETSNET Development Services contract.

VETSNET is a custom-built suite of inter-related applications and batch jobs which collectively serve as the primary business and benefits delivery system for the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA). This custom architectural infrastructure supports multiple business functions, including compensation and pension claims, starting with claim establishment through payment and accounting of benefits.

BGS delivers Web services in support of other key VA systems including the Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS) and Veterans Relationship Management (VRM). Under this contract, SMS will provide development and maintenance support for the current VETSNET system and will continue the development and deployment of BGS Web services.

“This is a highly visible VA program and serves as the VBA primary business application and modernized benefits delivery system,” said Ron Fishbeck, CEO and co-founder of SMS. “VETSNET provides a fundamental service to four million of our nation's Veterans. As a Service-disabled, Veteran-owned Business, we are proud to serve those who sacrifice on our behalf.”

SMS supports the entire VETSNET suite of applications and system elements associated with VETSNET and BGS in support of the VBA. Services include program management, operational support, systems engineering, change management, software development, design analysis, architecture and interoperability support over the life of the effort.
