DriveSavers achieves HIPPA compliance

Data recovery service provider upholds the highest standards of confidentiality

Novato, CA -- DriveSavers Data Recovery, the worldwide leader in data recovery services, announces today that the company is compliant with all forty-two data security standards outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Performed by Trusted Consulting Compliance (TrustCC), the evaluation of compliance was designed to measure the controls over DriveSavesrs data recovery processes as they are performed for customers with damaged media containing electronic protected health information. Damaged media from healthcare customers may contain sensitive electronic data such as: patients’ records, lab records, and medical transcripts for doctors, hospitals and/or clinics.

“With an increase in the amount of sensitive patient data that is being stored electronically, plus the strict regulations for securing PHI data, its no surprise that data breach is top of mind for CIOs at medical centers,” said Michael Hall, CISO at DriveSavers Data Recovery. “Our healthcare customers can feel confident and relieved that our data recovery services meet HIPAA data security standards as well as other important security standards and protocols.”

Medical facilities, financial institutions and government agencies are required to meet the most stringent data security guidelines by law, and are now requiring third-party data recovery vendors who handle their data to meet these same guidelines. DriveSavers is leading the data recovery market by investing in technology, research, equipment, new facilities, and training so that it meets those rigorous security audits. DriveSavers is SAS 70 Type II compliant, the Corporate Industry’s standard for an overall control structure. DriveSavers also adheres to US Government security protocols, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act Data Security Rule (GLBA), the Data-At-Rest US mandate (DAR), and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). In addition, DriveSavers engineers have received Certifications for completing extensive encryption training programs from the leading encryption software vendors, including GuardianEdge, PGP, Pointsec (Check Point Software Technology) and Utimaco.

DriveSavers can successfully recover lost data from encrypted hardware, software, email, network files, web pages, wireless device data and all storage and backup devices. A few companies that have trusted DriveSavers with their critical data include: CompuCom Systems, Inc, eBay, NASA, Weill Cornell Medical Center, and UCLA Medical Center.
