Novitas Solutions starts Medicare JH contract work - jobs coming soon

April 05, 2012 | Industry News Release
Source: Government Health IT

CAMP HILL, Pa. – Novitas Solutions Inc., formerly Highmark Medicare Services and the current Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for Jurisdiction 12 (J12), which covers Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C., announces it will begin implementing the Medicare Administrative Contract for Jurisdiction H (JH), which includes filling hundreds of new Pennsylvania-based jobs as well as jobs outside of Pennsylvania. The specific number of new jobs available and their locations will be announced as soon as possible.

Novitas Solutions was awarded the MAC JH contract Nov. 8, 2011, by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The contract covers Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. Contract implementation activities were delayed to accommodate a CMS-issued "stop work order," which resulted from a JH award protest being filed.

"Novitas Solutions is a premiere employer with a rich history in government administrative services contracting. We are extremely proud to serve the stakeholders in this very important jurisdiction," Sandy Coston, Novitas Solutions CEO, said.

Along with its responsibilities as the MAC for J12, the fully implemented MAC JH contract gives Novitas Solutions accountability for Medicare Part A and Part B fee-for-service claims and other administrative services for more than 8.4 million Medicare beneficiaries, approximately 1,800 hospitals and 287,000 physicians and other healthcare practitioners for 11 states and the District of Columbia. Under MAC JH, Novitas Solutions will also be responsible for some key specialty functions, including processing Indian Health Service facility claims for the entire country and serving as the designated A/B MAC to support centralized billing by immunization clinics.

About Novitas Solutions, Inc. (formerly Highmark Medicare Services)

Diversified Service Options (DSO) is headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla. and wholly-owned by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF). DSO was created in 1998 to address the company's long-term government business strategies. (FCSO) – the current Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for Jurisdiction 9 (J9), which covers Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Novitas Solutions, Inc. -- the MAC for Jurisdiction 12 (J12) and Jurisdiction H (JH) and the payment processor under the Section 1011 contract.
