Salient Federal Solutions Awarded $17 Million Contract by OPM for Complete Software Life Cycle Support for Retirement, Health and Insurance Benefits

Fairfax, VA, January 31, 2013 – Salient Federal Solutions, Inc. (Salient), a provider of information technology, engineering, and intelligence analytic services to agencies in the intelligence, defense, homeland security, cyber security, and federal civilian markets, today announced the award of the Systems Support, Maintenance and Development (SSMD) contract for the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM)'s Benefits Systems Division. This one-year award, made under the OPM BPA, has three one–year option periods with an anticipated value of $17 million.

The mission of the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM), Office of Chief Information Officer, Benefits Systems division is to support, enhance, and develop applications for four major customer groups at OPM. These groups include Retirement Services, Healthcare and Insurance, Chief Financial Officer, and Office of Actuary.

Under this contract, Salient will provide full life-cycle software application services-related operations, maintenance and enhancement for the constituents of OPM's retirement, healthcare, insurance, and related benefits systems. There are over 2.4 million annuitants and 8 million federal employees who are enrolled in the OPM Benefits Systems. Salient's team will assimilate and capture the functional requirements related to enhancing the applications, and design, test, develop, deliver and maintain the benefits applications. Salient currently supports more than 50 systems that are critical to OPM's role as the human resource provider for federal government employees, annuitants, and beneficiaries. These systems are at the core of over $5 billion per month of financial transactions in support of retirement, healthcare, insurance, and related benefits.

Salient's mission will continue to mitigate risks and provide secure records management in the most effective and efficient services to OPM stakeholders and constituents that are enrolled and utilize the OPM services.
