Medsphere Systems Corporation and Cooper Green Mercy Hospital has announced that Cooper Green has received a reimbursement of $2.1 million from Alabama State Medicaid for meeting electronic health record (EHR) adoption, implementation and upgrade (AIU) requirements. This initial disbursement of funds enables Cooper Green, owned by Jefferson County, to improve patient care while covering much of the five-year cost of Medsphere’s OpenVista EHR.
With the aim of strengthening health IT and creating jobs, the Department of Health and Human Services awards $40 million to public health departments.
Students graduating from the workforce training programs at 84 community colleges will be ready to help primary care physicians become meaningful users of EHRs.
